Aerin, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom! My prayers for your family. We have been dealing with serious illness in our family for over a year now. Family has to rally together no matter how difficult.

The important thing is that you're rallying. I have a very large, prickly, extended family whose various branches are often at odds. Individually they are of decent stock, but lifetimes of petty rivalries can compound into some surprisingly vicious feuds. Toxic, my uncle called it, after a particularly painful family cook-out. Not a week later he was diagnosed with MS. The shift in family dynamics was so sudden and so thorough that for a few days no one knew how to act, just how to react. It turned out that, stripped down to our basic instincts, we were all pretty loving, resilient, thoughtful, heartbroken people. And while that didn't change the diagnosis, it did change the quality of life, and not just for my uncle.
ReplyDeleteI guess what I'm trying to say is that with enough good people and love and prayer, a miracle is inevitable. Even if it's not the one you expected.
